The Hellenistic Movement was triggered by the death of Alexander the Great in 323 B.C. The movement was mainly prominent in Greek. It can be characterized for its sculptures of gods, goddesses and even ordinary people. Each structure is individually detailed. One of the most popular images of this period included nude sculptures of the gods or kings. The sculpture most appealing to me is known as "Statue of an Old Market Woman". The woman is depicted in a thin dress, one shoulder shown bare. She is carrying a basket with what seems to be fruit, which many believe could be a sign of an offering. Some also believe that the sculptor could have been influenced by other artists before it was created (Art of the Hellenistic Age and the Hellenistic Tradition).
